After much anticipation, Apple has finally released a new budget-friendly iPhone SE.
Apple products continue to wow the masses, as almost everyone seems to want to have a slice of the pie. But getting a serving doesn’t come cheap. The latest flagship iPhone costs anything between $700 - $1100, depending on the model you go for. Such amounts either price people out altogether or tie them into expensive monthly contracts. Andriod smartphones offer devices that cater to all markets and price ranges, something Apple has rarely and reluctantly done itself.
But the tech giant knows the demand for a more affordable version of the iPhone is there. The company has dipped its toe in the mid-range waters before, most notably with the iPhone 5C and the original iPhone SE. It has been over four years since the later device was first released. But finally, the wait for a new version is over, let’s take a look at what’s on offer.
The cost of the new iPhone SE starts at $400. It comes with a 4.7-inch display and has Apple’s own A13 Bionic processor – the same processor that can be found in the iPhone 11. The device has a home button with Touch ID built-in.
Unlike the flagship models, the new SE comes with a single-lens 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, as well as a 7-megapixel front-facing camera. Features such as Portrait Mode and Smart HDR are present in the latest model.
The device comes in a range of colors that include black, white, and red. The base model offers 64gb of storage, but Apple also offers a 128GB and 256GB version.
$400 is a solid price point for those that want to make their first step into the world of Apple iPhones. We will have to wait for reviews before understanding exactly how the new SE performs. But from the spec sheet and price, you’re likely going to enjoy a solid iPhone experience.
